Painting ourselves into a corner!

May 20, 2010
Well, Spring had Sprung, and there were projects to be Done!
Including, painting the deck...

My girls and I had a great morning doing this little project together.
They were actually great helpers.
OOPS..... ha ha ha!!!
This was SO funny. They were just painting away, all around themselves, then they realized what they had done! They thought it was SO super funny! (so they trapped themselves in as much as they possibly could)
Silly little girly's:)

MIMI's: Milly's Chicken!

From the Moment her Egg hatched...
this little chicken was Amelia's chicken: MIMI's!

Milly LOVES Mimi's...

Even as Mimis grew older, she STILL loved that chicken...
Pettiskirt or no pettiskirt, she wanted to hold her chicken!

She loved to find worms for Mimi and bravely feed her by hand...

Well, her little MIMI turned into a mi-HE... a Rooster!
So, her little Mimi is now living at Petersen Farm Supply as the store mascot!

From Egg to Hen, just like that!

INCREDIBLE to think it can go from THIS:

TO THIS:

TO REAL CHICKENS LIKE THIS!

Well, these ever growing CHICKENS needed a home,
so these two creative cats got to work on a chicken coop:

The finished product was BEAUTIFUL...
the crowd went wild!

The children loved it, and the chickens loved their new home!

Neighborhood Petting ZOO!

As our Chicks and Ducks grew...
so did our neighborhood fans!!!

We had so many fun visitors to chase our chickens and see our ducks swim...

So much FUN!

And the poor, patient, sweet baby chicks and ducklings got MANY rides in baby strollers...

This was Rylee's favorite thing to do, walking the ducks:
Align Center

Milly loved taking the chickens for wild and crazy rides in her little stroller, her bike, or little ride-a-long cars:

Sophi and Milly were little farmers and could chase and take care of those baby animals all day long!

Brodyn was the most diligent, and guaranteed to be the first one each morning, without fail, to come over and check on HIS CHICKEN, he named: "black-man bus driver" ha ha:) He had that thing trained to perch on his arm for hours at a time!

Brooky helped hatch our ducks while we were out of town, she they were like her little babies.
Her and her brothers made frequent visits to take the ducks swimming and teach them tricks:

Baby Ducklings!

One week after our Chicks hatched, our Duck and Geese eggs hatched!!!

A few days later, we took them for their first SWIM!

Align Center
Bath time was over and it was time to dry the ducklings off and put them in their new home...

Rylee & Milly were so good at rounding them up...

These girls loved their fluffy little ducks and geese. Some of the names included:
Lucky Duck; Lilly Goose; Lucy Goosey!

SO SWEET!!!

Our CRAZY Incubating Project....

We decided it would be fun to incubate some eggs for easter time! And let me tell you, this was such a great learning experience. It was a RIOT!

Here is how our big idea played out...

WENT TO THE FARM
PICKED OUR EGGS
(Yes, RIGHT out from under the chickens tail feathers...)
TAKING OUR SPECIAL EGGS HOME
PUTTING OUR EGGS IN THE INCUBATOR
Then Wait, and Wait. (turning these babies twice a day, & looking at them under a "candled" light) WAIT 21 DAYS... until:
WE HEAR CHIRPING!!!!
Then the amazing hatching proccess:
PIP
ZIP
HATCH!!!
oh boy, i wish you could have HEARD us cheering him on and praying for him when "Mr. Stripey-Stripe" was trying to break out! He flopped around with the shell stuck on his head for a while, but it was QUITE the show!
DRYING in the INCUBATOR
BROODING OUR CHICKS
OUR HATCH:
