Me, Rylee & Milly took a day to go visit their only 3 living Great Grandparents!
We started the day off by picking up Great Grandpa Anderson and going to Arby's to split a Reuben! (something he and Grandma used to do before she passed away). The girls were both SO good there, Grandpa really enjoyed them. He sure thinks they are such great girls, and he especially loves when they comb his hair:)
We got to visit with him for a while, and the girls were able to walk along the trail through Grandpa's beautiful flower gardens (a thing I used to love to do as a little girl).
(My Grandpa Anderson has since passed away, Jan 2011. We are grateful for this memory with him!)
Next Stop: Great Grandpa Sweeten!
We brought Grandpa a little treat, and Rylee played her violin for him! One time we were at his home visiting and when Rylee saw this little statue Milly is holding here, and Grandpa Sweeten said: "there is nothing more beautiful than a beautiful girl playing a beautiful violin."
Grandpa thoroughly enjoyed listening to Rylee play her Beautiful Violin. She was such a good girl, and so sweet to play for him.
Even little Milly got to show Grandpa her skills on the E-string:)
*funny story: the last time we were at Grandpa Sweetens, he told us a story, regarding our daily naps. He said: "when you milk a cow, and set the milk aside and let it rest, what happens to the milk? The cream rises to the top!" Well, during our visit this time, we sat out on the back porch with him, "watching and listening"... when grandpa suggested we lay our head back and rest. Then Rylee said: "Yeah, and LET THE CREAM RISE TO THE TOP!"
Our last visit was with our Great Grandma Smith!
Although the girls were tired, they were still so respectful during our visit. Rylee was so sweet, and politely played her violin recital piece for Grandma. Grandma thought that was so wonderful she could do that. They quietly sat while Grandma talked with us. We talked about Violin, and she re-told the stories of my brother Brett (she was always just SO proud of the way we all spoke at the funeral). We stayed and visited for close to an hour.
We were so grateful that even though due to Grandma Smith's health at this time visitors were supposed to be limited, Grandpa Blaine told us we could go anyways. And even though it had been a long day for Ry & Milly, we still stopped to visit Great Grandma Smith. This was such a great experience that we will treasure forever, because just one week later she passed away, Sept 2010.
We are SO blessed to have such AMAZING grandparents, who have given us such a WONDERFUL legacy to live up to! We can learn so much from their lives and examples.
We were extremely lucky to have this opportunity to spend this quality time with our Grandparents. We love them, appreciate them, and we are grateful for them.

This is such a sweet post! I'm glad you were able to make those last memories with your grand-parents for the girls. I'm sure that they will cherish those times that they got to spend with them!

What a wonderful thing to have with your girls and always remember that special time. Your family pictures are adorable!!! You look so good! I just love your girlies. We sure miss you guys we would love a visit from you!
